Camping
Camping at Blue Knob ranges from full sun campsites to wooded campsites. The campground is open mid-April to mid-October. We found the park to be a very nice park. Bath facilities at the campground are located in the pet friendly portion of the loop. The bathhouse does noy have a family restroom and the wash sink was located at an old restroom. We used our collapsible wash basins and carried the wash water to dump sink.
Hiking
Blue Knob has 23 mi of hikes. We did not even scratch the surface of hiking Blue Knob State Park. Here are hikes which we have done:
Chappells Field Trail (2.5 mi loop, easiest hiking): The Chappells Field Trail can be picked up at the campground across from the bathhouse. The trail is a nice loop through the forest, wildlife management areas, and the bottom loop of the campground. It provides a sweeping view of Blue Knob State Park.
Pavia Lookout Loop (1mi loop, more difficult hiking): The Pavia Lookout Loop is a mult-use trail near the top of the mountain. It features the Pavia lookout along the trail. Parking is at the Mountain View trailhead on Ski Access Road. There are multiple loops that can be formed with the Pavia Lookout loop. We took the following route: Trailhead to 8, to 9, to 6, to lookout, to 5, to 4, to 7, to 8, to trailhead.
